Most of us have asked ourselves that question at one point or another. For others, I may now have a ‘Les Miserables’ song stuck in your head, and I apologize. Or some of you really do wonder, who really is Derek R. J. Borne?
In a nutshell, a simple, married construction worker who’s a nerd and enjoys musicals, and occasionally has time to write (my blogging is still quite irregular). But you probably also wonder, “What makes his books different from any other?” Well my friends, you shall come to know the ways of, well me. When it came to writing “The Ultimate Agent”, yes it has action. Yes it has romance, humour, intrigue, and so on. No, it doesn’t have bloody murder. Dialogue has no swearing/cursing. And let’s face it, authors should be able to give their characters a VOCABULARY, right? And when it comes to romance, there’s no funny stuff between any sheets (and lets leave that in the bedroom, shall we?), Morals seem to be a thing of the past. The world is desensitized to many things that should bother the conscience. To write about those things is, well, not really needed in my humble opinion. If you want a good book that your children can read without having to worry about what they’re feeding their minds, please give these ones a chance. Or if you want to get away from novels with characters that all swear like insert word of your choice here, feel free to give “The Ultimate Agent” a try. As well, a book should be viewed as a gift from us authors. You may have read some that had a pretty cover/wrapping paper, then come to find out it’s another ugly sweater/tie from your Uncle Pauly. Or would you rather receive a gift that you’ll love, and want to re-use or re-read again and again? My hope is that these gifts can be received by you, from me. The lowly author who writes, hoping to create something special for you to enjoy. And that is who I am, and why I write. So go ahead. Have an “Ultimate” read! D. R. J. Borne Mission Blog Complete

It’s been too long since my last blog/update, gotta love when life says to you, “You’re going to be too busy for anything for the next few months, so buckle up!”
Well ‘life’… you’re slowing down for me right now! Kapeesh! Ahem, anywho… You may or may not have noticed the new site digs. Much cleaner, easier to navigate, felt like a change was needed in order to get back on track. Because change is good, especially when you find it in your coat pocket from last winter, but I digress. The UA franchise is still slowly gaining support, I still can’t thank everyone enough for the support that’s already been shown! You guys are freakin’ awesome! Novel #2 is gaining some momentum, and is now available in Hardcover Edition. Also the nicer weather lately enabled myself to get some new author photos done, because a wedding photo in the back of a book is a bit, over the top? But thanks to So Jeles Photography, a more ‘novel-worthy’ portrait looks much better and more professional. You can check out the few favourites on the main page. The recent superhero movies that have come out have made me get even more excited about releasing UA3!
It’s a great time to be a comic book fan, to see all of these amazing characters come to life. If only some producer could stumble upon a UA novel… hey, I can dream! The cast is already picked out, just visit the Pinterest page! Be sure to stay tuned for the release of “The Ultimate Agent 3”, hopefully to come out in January. As for it being the last of the franchise, there’s been no definite decision yet. The characters have become family to me, in a way, as I hope they can or already have become for you readers out there. In a world full of hardship and tough times, be sure to give yourself a fun read that can lift your spirits and make you feel great! I still stick to my guns when it comes to: no swearing, no sex, and no gore in a novel. Because it really isn’t needed in order to tell a story. Guess it’s been so long, that this blog is becoming a novel of its own! In case I’ve bored you to the point of exiting this blog, I shall bid everyone an “Ultimate” day! D. R. J.
