Taking a look at the calendar, there’s so much I want to do in 2014… oh wait… seriously? How can it be 2015 already? Well that’s crap-tastic. Guess 2014 wasn’t a total write-off though. The release of the 2nd book in the “UA” series didn’t perform as well as hoped, but there are still true fans out there who absolutely loved the novel and can’t wait for the next instalment! My beautiful wife and I spent our 2nd anniversary in Niagara Falls, the Canadian side. One of the few places that still amazes me of the power of nature. And if you love Italian food as much as I do, be sure to try Bravo Pizzeria-Grill. They stone-cook their pizzas, and make everything so fresh that you feel teleported right to Italy itself! We also spent some time with another avenue of nature, as my wife and I took a weekend up to a zoo bed & breakfast called Jungle Cat World up in Orono, Ontario. You really get see another side of the world’s wonderful creatures. Everyday at 1:00 there’s a feeding tour, and wow can those big cats sure eat! The next day, after our big breakfast consisting of fresh farm eggs, bacon, toast and local fruit, we headed out for our “behind the scenes” tour! Our first furry little friends to meet were the Ruffled and Ringtail Lemurs. These berry-loving primates were so curious yet carefree, and definitely loved the attention. The next not-so-furry critter, was a black and white Tegu. It’s always fun when you get to meet something that was once a dinosaur! Right? Then we took a little trip to Australia to feed and greet a Kangaroo! Last but not least was the Serval cat. A smaller African cat, this gorgeous feline was so relaxed and friendly. Definitely a highlight of my life, and you should make this spot a highlight of yours! As well, this year the new site was put up, a book trailer is on it’s way, and due to life getting crazy at the end of the year, the 3rd installment of the “UA” series is slightly off schedule for release.
You have to take the good with the bad, but remember, the good always far outweighs the negatives. So continue to find the positive in this world of hard knocks, and let’s keep our heads up! I hope you all have had an awesome year, and let’s make 2015 even more “Ultimate”! D. R. J. Borne Mission Blog Complete

Happy Friday! With the weekend upon us, a new batch of reviews have come in! Again good friends of mine were able and willing to write up their own reviews for "UA2". Feel free to check them out and even leave some comments! "The “Ultimate” team returns to face greater challenges and grittier confrontations. This time, our heroes are pitted against an army of human-brained winged felines that seek to wreak havoc on the civilized world. Bone-crunching battles ensue amidst the busy meccas of Toronto and San Francisco, as well as the popular zoos and aquariums of the world. These air-born cat-minions are the brain-child of new villain, a duplicitous and unorthodox scientist. His easy-going manner presents a more subtle form of evil that is most intriguing. There is also the inclusion of a new character Spencer Raymond, who becomes the victim of a crazed experiment. Spencer must come to terms with his freakish, life-changing alterations and discover whether he has anything to offer the team. His soul-searching journey elicits our compassion and breaks new ground in the series. But the story’s standout has to be Brett Bourne. The reader is compelled by his resolve in the face of loss and uncertainty, and his selfless efforts to lead the team through a dangerous mission. To combat his flying feral adversaries, Brett “the Specialist” uses an impressive array of new weapons. In addition to his jet-pack, jet-boots, transporter, invisibility belt and double swords, he now utilizes a hand gun, sniper rifle, rocket launcher, sabre missiles, tranquilizer darts, concrete sprayer, acid vials, and super-penetrating bullets! His journey is one of growth and teamwork as he becomes a leader and a true hero. For fans of the original novel, this is a must read." - The Daily Perusal "A sequel to end all sequels, this tale of tough breaks and revenge will leave you hanging in suspense! Through every twist and turn, readers will ask themselves what truly makes a hero. This story delivers everything you’ve come to expect from the original novel and more!"
- The Literary Device (*Pen names are used) Special thanks go out to a couple of great friends of mine who gave of their time and efforts to writing out their personal reviews for "The Ultimate Agent". Please feel free to give them a read! "Devon Bertrand’s life is changed forever when Frank Thomas hires him to work at his secret facility, The Ultimate Agency. Along with fellow agent/scientist Brett Bourne, and empowered by an unbounded spectrum of super abilities and high-tech gadgets, he becomes the “Ultimate Agent” to fight against the enhanced powers of the Russian terrorists Maximus and Valeriya Romanov. Their leader: the infamous Konstantin who would like nothing more than to spread destruction and mayhem across the globe. The reader is deftly transported to confrontations that take place in a variety of imaginative locations. Fast-paced action and aggression typify these epic battles, yet there is an element of humor even amidst the most intense situations. Derek Borne’s novel portrays both the larger-than-life struggles for peace, and the everyday friendships and romances of the characters. At the Agency, rather than just colleagues, “everyone here is like one big quirky family” as Devon puts it. Devon’s budding romance with scientist Jade Hathaway is a focal point in the story as they experience the head over heels infatuation of young love, and the apprehension of losing it. Themes of loyalty, friendship, revenge, and forgiveness are also explored. Expect a reading experience like no other!" - The Daily Perusal "A wide variety of ideas and themes are showcased in this story, a cautionary tale of how a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. The story follows a unique narrative that leaves the reader wondering what will happen next: with the Ultimate Agent and his best friend Specialist, anything is possible!"
